Medicare
You can receive a Medicare rebate for osteopathic services if you are a patient of the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) program. The CDM program allows General Practitioners (GPs) to refer patients for up to five (5) allied health professional consultations in a calendar year for patients with chronic or complex care needs. For CDM services, you must be referred to an osteopath by a GP, who develops a Management Plan and Team Care Arrangement for you.
At The Spine and Injury Clinic there is a ‘gap fee’ which is the amount you pay after the Medicare benefit has been utilised. This is to cover the total cost of the consultation. The gap fee for an initial consultation after the medicare rebate is $62. Return patients are out of pocket $35.
